Guests were treated pre-game with Mike Harris & Michael Snowden from the Rebels providing the inside scoop on their predictions and let the crowd in on a few special moments shared between Coach Tony McGahan and Young Leader Committee Member, Eoin Toolan, head analyst for the Rebels. Gavin Lawless was also on hand to provide his predictions and insights for Ireland’s upcoming Tour of South Africa. Coach McGahan and Irish Rebels prop Jamie Hagan arrived after the game for an enjoyable post-match interview. Thanks to James Slattery for hosting a live auction on the night. James sold a signed Rebels jersey and an “Inner Sanctum” experience, donated by the Melbourne Rebels as well as a Land Rover Experience provided by Melbourne City Land Rover. JUNE, 2016 Melbourne produced an Irish Winter’s day for the annual Melbourne Luncheon on Sunday 5 June. Paul O’Brien, Director of The Australian Ireland Fund, welcomed guests providing an update on the previous 12 months achievements including the launch of the Young Leaders in Brisbane, hosting 18 events and the latest grant round allocations to Soar, Suas, Solas, Sensational Kids and Trinity College ensuring the continuation of this great work being done in Ireland. A panel discussion with Irish Ambassador Noel White, Prof. Patrick McGorry AO, 2010 Australian of the Year and Olympian Sonia O’Sullivan was held. Members of the panel talked candidly about their roles as “Ambassadors” for their country led by MC Catherine Murphy. Adrian Hanley, Co-Chair of the Melbourne Young Leaders, announced the Global 5K run, which will take place in 16 cities around the world in September and thanked Sonia O’Sullivan for agreeing to be the global patron for a sec- ond year. Guests were entertained by Bobby Fox, lead singer of the Jersey Boys, who had the crowd singing along with him.
