connect 2017 • 79 SAN FRANCISCO AROUND THE WORLD April, 2017 A gathering of friends old and new came together in the beautiful Newport Beach home of Catherine & DeLane Thyen to celebrate Irish filmmaking talent over for the Newport Beach Film Festival. Attendees included Oscar- nominated director & producer Juanita Wilson and James Flynn. Award-winning Irish actresses Seána Kerslake and Charleigh Bailey (stars of A Date For Mad Mary), Golden Globe-nominated composer Brian Byrne, and actress Caroline Morahan also joined the celebration. Long-time supporters of The Ireland Funds included Anne & Dermot Tuohy, Sean & Jane Brown, Eileen Weatherbee, Manus Friel, Emilie Guilbaud, as well as new friends such as Wylie & Bette Aitken. April, 2017 Thousands of fans cheered on the San Francisco Giants vs. the Los Angeles Dodgers at Irish Heritage Night, including an enthusiastic group of San Francisco Young Leaders. Guests arrived at the renowned Momo’s restaurant for the pre-game reception dressed warmly in team colors of black, orange, & cream, ready for the stiff breezes that were blowing in from the Bay. It was a lively evening with a great group of supporters who were keen to strengthen their ties to Ireland and build their Irish network. Newlyweds Joe & Elizabeth Moore were joined by Regina Moore and Kelly Kennedy, along with Megan Moran and Elizabeth Zak. Mark O’Sullivan of Matheson was there with David Smith, Mark Barron, Greg Harker, and Richard Kil. Billy Morris came along with Marek Hadlaw while Grainne Barron invited Dave Hall, Andrew Rentz and Pac O’Shea from Viddyad to attend. Hugh Gibbons of UBS also joined along with Mairead Kavanagh, Eoin Keane, Brian Trayers, and Tara McElligott. Darren Ryan and Jane Feighery of Social Entrepreneurs Ireland were in town too and enjoyed meeting everyone. Thanks also to Tara Robinson and Daire Heneghan for their support.
