connect 2017 • 45 is a social enterprise set up with a vision for a world where no good food goes to waste. We have developed a unique solution, connecting businesses with large volumes of surplus food to charities that need it most in communities across Ireland via three redistribution Hubs in Dublin, Galway and Cork. FoodCloud Hubs developed and tested this solution by carrying out a pilot in Cork, with the support from The Ireland Funds Small Grants Program. Since the Cork Hub opened in July of 2014 followed by Dublin in December of 2015 and Galway in January of 2016, FoodCloud Hubs has delivered the following social, environmental impacts: FoodCloud Hubs were delighted and honoured to be awarded The Ireland Fund’s Flagship Grant in 2016, this funding has and will continue to sup- port us in scaling the positive impact of our work to communities across the country. With the financial support provided through the Flagship Grant over the next two years, we aim to redistribute over 4,000 tons of surplus food, to a network of 400 charities nationwide, serving 16,000 beneficiaries and delivering cost savings to the charity sector of over €4m annually. We have also benefited hugely from connecting with The Ireland Funds global philanthropic network in Ireland and internationally who have supported us with advice, guidance and introductions. We are very grateful for the support of The Ireland Funds and look forward to continuing to work with you over the coming years to achieve a vision for an Ireland and a world where no good food goes to waste. — Aoibheann O’Brien, Co-founder & CEO FoodCloud Hubs FoodCloud Hubs + 1,200 Tons of food redistributed + 3,840 Tons CO2 emissions saved 2,600,000 Meals for people in need + 100 Donating Businesses including Musgrave Group, Tesco, Aldi, Lidl, Pallas Foods and many more +150 Charities Nationwide including St. Vincent De Paul, Cope Galway, Simon Communities, Focus Ireland and many more
