Young Leaders Samhain: An Irish Halloween

On Thursday, October 27th, the DC Young Leaders and friends gathered for an early Halloween celebration.   “Samhain: An Irish Halloween” was generously hosted by the Irish Ambassador, H.E. Michael Collins at the Irish Embassy.  Ambassador Collins welcomed the Young Leaders and thanked them for their support for Ireland and for being a part of the worldwide diaspora of over 60 million of Irish descent.  AIF DC Young Leader Board Chairman, Reilly O’Connor thanked the Ambassador, the embassy and the guests and announced the Worldwide Young Leaders Conference in January 2012.

Over 100 guests wore their most festive Halloween masks and judges chose the favorites to take home prizes. The Embassy was covered in Halloween décor, from spider webs to pumpkins, and the masks added to the Samhain ambiance.  Throughout the night, DC Young Leaders and friends mingled over cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and treats (including Halloween candy!)

Samhain was the second DC Young Leaders event this fall, following the very successful Halfway to St. Patrick’s Day Event in September.  Our month long Raffle of Aer Lingus Tickets ended at the Samhain event and the winner was announced.  Congratulations, Dereck Robinson.

Thank you to the Irish Embassy for hosting and our friends who were able to come out to celebrate “Samhain: An Irish Halloween!”
