Young Leaders An All American Style BBQ 2013

Over 175 friends and supporters of The Ireland Funds gathered at the Lansdowne Rugby Club on July 5th for an All American Style BBQ. Bringing a little bit of America to Dublin, it was a perfect evening as the sun was shining and the spirits were high!
With Aviva in the background, guests enjoyed drinks courtesy of our sponsors—Jameson, Carlsberg, Diageo & El Comandante Wine and a tasty BBQ dinner and endless Häagen-Dazs ice cream courtesy of our friends at General Mills.

Back by popular demand was the Bucking Bronco. Guests tested their strength, or just enjoyed the sight of others attempting to show of theirs as they attempted to take home top prize. After a few hours of enjoyment, guests entered into the official competition to win the coveted Ireland Funds Golden Cowboy hat. Competition was tough but in the end Timothy Ahearne set the record with a 24 second time.

Caitlin Duffy, Director of the Young Leaders spoke to the crowd thanking them for all their support in making the evening a success. Caitlin also asked the crowd to take a few moments to draw their attention to the screens where the names of the 161 organisations that received funding in our 2013 Grant Round were displayed. It is the support of events like this that make such grants possible.

Before the official night concluded, the crowd watched in silence to see who would be the lucky winners of our raffle prize. Thank you to all who donated a raffle prize, our excited guests will ensure they are put to good use!

Special thanks to our corporate sponsor, Blueface. Aside from sponsoring the event, Alan Foy, CEO of Blueface, has been an active member of our Steering Committee so it is always great to see him and his colleagues in attendance.

Thank you to all who attended, we hope Y’all had fun!
