Founded in 1793, Bonhams is a privately owned auction house and one of the world’s oldest and largest auctioneers of fine art and antiques. In 2002, the company acquired Butterfields, the principal firm of auctioneers that was established on the west coast of the United States in 1865. Patrick Meade has spearheaded a major expansion program for Bonhams, directing the firm’s business development and strategy. Patrick is responsible for overseeing all consignments for sale and acts as auctioneer for many of Bonhams sales throughout the United States. He serves on Bonhams US and UK Boards of Directors, travels extensively as host auctioneer for museum, institutional and private charity fundraisers and has his finger on the pulse of what is current on the auction scene.
