On Thursday, July 14th, over 100 of our New York Young Leaders and friends gathered at The Ainsworth Midtown for the annual “Summer in the City” fundraiser.
The guests enjoyed passed hors d’oeuvres and sipped cocktails while braving the high heat and humidity, typical to a New York summer.
As the evening progressed, National Director of the Young Leaders, Pat Tully, addressed the crowd and talked about the Young Leaders recent visit to Ireland and the success of the 40thanniversary Ireland Funds Conference, which many in attendance could speak about first hand.
Pat also explained that the support raised at events like Summer in the City, goes directly to the unrestricted grant round, which allows The Ireland Funds to provide funding to organizations, including many that were visited by the Young Leaders at the Conference.
After talking about raising money for those projects, Pat put the words into action and conducted a live auction that included a trip to The Ireland Funds “Rugby Weekend” in Chicago when Ireland takes on the All-Blacks of New Zealand and a trip to London to attend The Ireland Funds Winter Ball.
After the auction, Pat introduced the special guest of the evening, Comedian/Actor/Author/Producer, Colin Quinn, who recently starred in the smash hit Trainwreck with Amy Schumer.
Colin’s classical observations about the Irish and life in New York had the audience in stitches and suddenly forgetting about the heat.
Following Colin’s hilarious routine, Pat thanked the supporters and the party continued, while Colin Quinn graciously took pictures and shared stories with our guests.
Special thanks to: Jameson Irish Whiskey, Andrew McLeod and Union Beer Distributors, the staff at Ainsworth Midtown and Delta Air Lines.
