George Moore Scholars 2022 Celebratory Event

The Ireland Funds was delighted to celebrate the 2022 George Moore Scholars at a reception in The Merrion Hotel on Friday 3rd June 2022.

Current scholars and alumni were welcomed by Dr. Cliona Hannon, Director of George Moore Scholars and Angela Moore CBE. The George Moore Scholars Programme honours the legacy of Angela’s late husband, entrepreneur Dr George G. Moore. It is an ambitious initiative offering extraordinary support to some of Ireland’s most academically talented students from all academic disciplines.

In 2022, 39 outstanding students from academic fields ranging from Economics, Law and Psychology to Music Performance and Design, will be supported to complete their master’s degrees in the US, Canada and the UK. The scholars, who were selected after a rigorous application process, are from 14 counties nationwide and represent 10 higher education institutions in Ireland. The high-value scholarships will cover the cost of higher education fees, research, travel, visas, health insurance and other living costs associated with pursuing postgraduate education abroad.

The reception not only recognised the achievements of the 2022 scholars, but also offered a wonderful opportunity for them to connect with alumni before they commence their postgraduate studies abroad.
