Over 200 guests gathered on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange to be greeted by host and Dinner Chairman, Duncan Niederauer, CEO of the New York Stock Exchange.  Duncan spoke from the storied podium about his Irish roots, affection for the country and the NYSE Euronext’s current investments there.

Kieran McLoughlin, President & CEO of The Worldwide Ireland Funds, spoke of the importance of this Dinner, the largest of the 100 events the Fund organizes on an annual basis, and of the Promising Ireland Campaign to raise $100 million.  He announced that the honorees for this year’s event would be Irial Finan of The Coca-Cola Company and Muhammad Ali.  Irial Finan spoke of this pleasure of being this year’s recipient of the Award and of the long and fruitful relationship between The Coca-Cola Company and Ireland.

Earlier in the evening, some forty members of the Dinner Committee gathered in the board room of the New York Stock Exchange to commence the drive to promote the Dinner.  This group through its commitment, leadership and generosity will be central to ensuring that the Dinner reaches its target of$2.5 million to support a range of projects across the island of Ireland at this time of great need.
