Charity Dinner

On November 13th The Ireland Fund of Germany (IFoG) held their annual Charity Dinner. This time the beautiful Dinner took place in Bonn, Germany`s popular former capital at the river Rhine, it`s only UN-city and – as the birthplace of the world famous classical composer Ludwig van Beethoven – one of the cultural places to visit in Germany. The Chairman of IFoG, Elmar Conrads-Hassel, and his wife, Dr. Ursula Hassel, who hosted the evening, were very pleased to welcome the Irish Ambassador to Germany, H.E. Dan Mulhall and his wife Greta as well as the Lord Mayor of Bonn, Jürgen Nimptsch and his wife Hanne Huffschmidt among the many members, friends and guests fo the Ireland Fund of Germany.  Guest of honour and speaker at the Charity Dinner was the former German Ambassador to Ireland, Christian Friedemann Pauls.

During the evening Elmar Conrads-Hassel and Dan Mulhall rewarded "An Duais", the annual award for outstanding achievements in the field of Irish-German co-operation to Brigitte Wagner-Halswick, Irish Honorary Consul General and successful German entrepreneur with companies in Ireland and Germany.

This year the proceeds of the Charity Dinner were donated to RE/INIT e.V.” and its project “EU fit – Ireland / Germany”. This project gives 13 young Irish and 13 young Germans who are looking for an apprenticeship or vocational training the opportunity to boost their chance by getting three months work experience and language learning in the host country Germany or Ireland.
