The “Jewel in the Crown” of the Texas Irish golf weekend is the June and Archie Bennett party. All stops are pulled out to make sure that a good time is had by all. Entertainment this year was provided by Elizabeth Taylor and Roy Orbison look-a-likes. Then our host Archie, with music blaring Elvis tunes, took the microphone and did a Karaoke act.
Kieran McLoughlin, CEO of the Worldwide Ireland Funds, presented the Bennetts with a beautiful framed watercolor of Donegal painted by well-known Northern Irish artist David Gordon Hughes. This was donated for the occasion to the AIF by Alan Barnes of Alan Barnes Fine Art Gallery. Also attending were Ebby Halliday, legendary Texas real estate entrepreneur and Australian concert pianist Daniel Sheehan.
