On Friday, July 19th, The Ireland Funds held its tenth annual “Irish Night on Cape Cod” at the Ocean Edge Resort and Golf Club in Brewster, MA. The Ireland Funds National Board Director and longtime supporter Joe Corcoran and his family once again hosted 130 supporters of The Ireland Funds on the beautiful Ocean Terrace at their resort.
Record-breaking summer heat was held in check by light cloud cover (but not enough to diminish the beautiful sunset) and a gentle Cape breeze, as the Ocean Edge Resort’s panoramic views of Cape Cod Bay provided the perfect setting for a special night. An endless supply of Cape-famous hors d’oeuvres and gorgeous Ocean Edge raw bar added to the celebration.
On behalf of Joe Corcoran and family, his daughter Suzanne Corcoran extended a warm welcome and spoke of the long friendship the Corcoran family has shared with The Ireland Funds’ family. The Ireland Funds’ New England Director and Vice President of Development Steve Greeley thanked everyone and highlighted several vital Irish non-profit projects recently supported. Congressman Richard Neal, Chair of the U.S. House of Representatives Ways and Means Committee, spoke of his ties to Ireland, support of the work of The Ireland Funds, and updated our friends on recent developments across the island of Ireland, commenting on Brexit and its potential effect on the progress made in Northern Ireland under The Good Friday Agreement.
Event Chairs Tom & Gina Flannery, Kevin & Rita Gill, and Ed & Jenn Murphy once again delivered an ever-successful night. Committee Members included: Jack & Trish Brennan, Kip & Peggy Condron, Joe Corcoran, John & Kathy Drew, Ryan & Maura Fitzpatrick, Jay & Linda Hooley, John & Tracee Hynes, Jim & Mary Judge, Paul Kingston, Andrew & Amanda Maher, John & Carla Morey, Tom & Shelly O’Neill, Scott & Nancy Powers, and Paul & Mary Beth Sandman.
